“One of the things that people have asked is…’if I don’t pay my attorney, in other words, the contingency fee on a personal injury case, well, If I’m not paying my attorney, then how do I know the case is important to them? How much time is he going to devote to that case’? This is now a question because I assume that’s that standard across the industry, the contingency fee, so what do you say to the client when they ask that question?”

Andrew Dósa – Personal Injury Attorney – Alameda County, CA

“Well, I don’t get paid until I get a settlement, so I have no motive to not get a settlement. I have a motive to get a settlement. As I mentioned earlier, I don’t determine what the settlement will be, the client is the one who gives the approval. I couldn’t make a demand, and then accept the settlement that I thought was good, and then talk to the client and let them know what we got. I’ve had a couple of clients that just didn’t want to be bothered because they were too busy with various life challenges, but I could never have settled them without their authority. I am motivated to move things along promptly because I won’t get paid until I do that.”
