You did something physically to relieve that blindness, to change it. What happened there?
Alan Bonebrake – Teaching Chiropractor – Plano, Texas
Well, first you have to learn now, I do an extensive workup over the phone for a patient whoever comes in. Then they fill out a very thorough questionnaire ’cause the history is a part of the exam. And basically, the more up front, the quicker you can make a decision. Okay?
Now, I’ll ask a question of you, Ray. Okay? Because I tell this in every one of my seminars. When I mentor people, I say the same thing. When you lose something, what’s the quickest way to find it?
Ray Hrdlicka – Host – Chiropractors.Media
Okay. Look for it.
Alan Bonebrake – Teaching Chiropractor – Plano, Texas
Okay, let’s put it in a different way. Where do you usually find it?
Ray Hrdlicka – Host – Chiropractors.Media
Well, you know, the common thing is where’s the last place you remember where it was?
Alan Bonebrake – Teaching Chiropractor – Plano, Texas
Okay, so the correct answer is you find it in the last place you look.
Ray Hrdlicka – Host – Chiropractors.Media
Right. Oh. That’s true. You spend a lot of time at that.
Alan Bonebrake – Teaching Chiropractor – Plano, Texas
Yeah, I try to make people think so it stays in there better. If I just spat out facts and I don’t make you think, it just kind of, okay, it kind of goes over you. So, I’ll make you think about that a little bit.
So when I, when people that work for me filled the phone call, I have them get a lot of very certain specific things. And one of the things that we ask is, what types of doctors, therapists, other professionals have you been to before you came to us?
And a common thing with chiropractors especially is people who’ve been to about a dozen other doctors and therapists before they ever hit our door. And they’re hoping against hope that we’re the one that’s going to figure them out, okay? They may have had some hope or some results or marginal results and, you know, just weren’t good enough. So, they’re hoping we’re going to be the one.
Well, when we go down and ask the question, okay, how many chiropractors have you been to? Physical therapists, occupational therapists, general MDs, neurologists, neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, osteopaths, massage therapists, herbalists, nutritionists. You know, we just go down a list. We have a long list. And I tell my people, put a number by each one of those.
And so in doing that, I just glance at it and I get a really good idea of what’s already been done on. And so, I do the next thing. So basically, I do the last thing first. And I usually get very quick results that way. I don’t try and reinvent the wheel the same way everybody else does. I just go past what didn’t work and do the next thing.
