40,000 patients, tell me about how you built your practice with, let’s say, insurance, then private pay, because they’re going to want to know that. I mean, obviously, they’re a service business, so tell me about what you learned and what you teach.
Alan Bonebrake – Teaching Chiropractor – Plano, Texas
Okay, I have pretty extensive knowledge of that. Matter of fact, you go on my ttaps.com channel on YouTube and there’s a doctor there, for example, he worked with a bunch of other doctors in an auto accident clinic in Tennessee. And he was the only one that got paid in full on all of his cases following what I said to do. And he even tried to tell him to do it, but they refused to. They’re going, oh, that never worked. But they just keep on going on. He’s the only one that got paid in full.
And so, you know, that’s auto accident. You know, one time I was 95% auto accident. So I had to learn all those ropes. And there’s a lot of stuff that it’s always curious to me because I’ve given seminars to doctors that that’s most of what they do. And I figured, I kind of figured like, well, since they do it all the time, they would know all this stuff. But I was astonished none of them knew all the stuff that I was teaching.
And they started figuring out, you know, how much they missed out on financial-wise, you know, over the years that they were doing it the way they were doing it. And it’s the same thing with private insurance, same way with workers’ compensation insurance. And I’ve done all those, and frankly, I just got kind of tired of doing them because I ran the decathlon in junior college and college, set a bunch of records, and I like doing a whole lot of stuff and not just one thing. So, it got kind of boring, although it’s pretty big, financially rewarding.
And so, I basically shut it all off and I went just cash. And my practice didn’t change at all. I had the same number of referrals, averaged 640 new patient referrals every month.
