“Hi, today we’re here with Andrew Dósa, an attorney in Alameda, California and surrounding counties of Alameda, California. And, Andrew, before we start talking about other issues in the civil justice system and the criminal justice system, I’d like you to spend a minute talking about the policies and procedures that you may have enacted during this time of COVID-19 pandemic, to make the public feel safe and comfortable contacting you about the issues they may feel. I think it’s important that everybody knows when they are dealing with a professional such as yourself, what they can expect.”
Andrew Dósa – Criminal Defense Attorney – Alameda County, CA
“All right, well, thank you, Ray. The simple answer is that our policy really hasn’t changed. The approach I’ve taken through the years has been to do what puts the client at ease. Where they’re the most comfortable talking with me and communicating. So for example, if we began with a face-to-face meeting, but they preferred having text messages, or email messages, or phone calls afterwards, I would accommodate them and do whatever they liked, because one, it would be convenient or comfortable for them. What we’ve simply done with the pandemic that’s around us, is that we have added the possibilities of a Zoom meeting, and there are other vehicles out there besides Zoom, but that’s the one that seems to be best known.
So, what we’ll do after that is, for clients who are comfortable coming into my office and would prefer the face-to-face meeting, we can do social distancing. There’s a chair to my left that’s slightly farther than 6-feet out, maybe 8-feet out, and so the client is outside that 6-foot mark. And they can wear a mask if they want. I can wear a mask. And when they ask me for a mask, I usually wear it, but I will do what makes them comfortable. And thereafter, if Zoom meetings make it easier, than we do that. And then again, we have the other option of phone calls, text messages, or email. So, whatever will work for the client, we’ll be happy to accommodate them.”

“Well, thanks, because that’s an important aspect for people when they need to get back to their life, to find out, “hey, I need help, this is what I need to do”. I appreciate your commentary on that.”
Andrew Dósa – Criminal Defense Attorney – Alameda County, CA
