My Son Jumped Bail After I Helped Him Out. What Do I Do Now?

Ray Hrdlicka – Bail Agent – Bail Bond Cowboys

“Hi, I’m Ray Hrdlicka with Bail Bond Cowboys. Now let me answer this question. You’re the cosigner. And all of a sudden you say to us, ‘hey, you asked me this question before I bailed my son out. You asked me ‘do I trust my son to go to court?’ I said yes. I bailed him out with you. And now he’s in hiding. What do I do? How can I help?’

Well, the answer is, actually, very simple. We recognize that, maybe, your son got scared. Maybe, somebody said something to him, got him scared about going to court. Maybe his girlfriend did something, you know, and said I want to take off and go and hide. The problem with that…couple of things.

Number one, he puts you, Mom, the cosigner, in a position of being responsible for the bail. So, we don’t want that. So, we’re going to go look for the person. It’s not only us that is looking for the person now. When he missed that court date, guess what? The Judge issued a warrant. And that warrant goes in the system, whether it’s the California system, CJIC, or whether it’s the national system, NCIC. Depending upon the severity of the crime and the bond, the severity of the crime.

So, the question that really should be asked is, ‘does he want to live like this the rest of his life?’ Because, number one, the warrant’s not going to go away. It’s going to be there forever. Forever. So, anybody runs a check on him, whether it is for employment for a job, or stop at a traffic light, he’s going to get arrested again.

Now, as a cosigner, we’re going to go to you and say, ‘help us locate him’. Get him back into court. We don’t want to put the burden of the bond on the cosigner. So, we’re going to work very closely with you to be able to resolve this issue. Find your son. Bring him back to court. It’s a challenging situation. It’s an emotional situation. But our job is not to let him just abscond and take off. And the court, six months down the road, says, ‘hey Ray, you owe me this amount of bond’. And we’re going to say to you, turn around and say, ‘you owe us that amount of money’. We don’t want that. So, we’re going to look for your help to be able to locate him. And very, very few people actually end up not being able to be located and found. And now, even before that, very few people actually don’t go to court, throughout their entire court date, and all the court dates associated with the case.

Now, one clarification. Let’s say they miss their court date by accident. That’s completely outside of this realm, we can fix that very easily, but that’s not what we are talking about here. In this particular case, the person is trying to hide. All right. So, we’ve answered that question.

Give us a call. If you’re in that situation, definitely give us a call. We can see if we can help you out. Ray Hrdlicka, Bail Bond Cowboys.
